Grubby AI Refund and Cancel Subscription Rules

Grubby AI calls every purchase non-refundable except after a price increase. How to cancel, what the Turnitin guarantee needs, and the 4-week billing catch.

That is more than 200 words, which is what a run without an account takes at once. Trim it, or it will stop at the limit on the next page.

Grubby AI does not refund subscriptions as a rule. Section 8.5 of its terms says all purchases are non-refundable, with one exception: a pro-rata refund if you cancel because Grubby raised your price. The site also advertises a Turnitin money-back guarantee, but the terms say it runs on separate terms we could not find published. You cancel from the subscription option in your account settings, and access runs to the end of the period you paid for.

Everything below was read on September 26, 2026 from grubby.ai/terms, the grubby.ai/guarantee page, the Grubby pricing page and the text of the cancel screens inside the Grubby app. Grubby AI is run by Study Solutions A16 LLC, which holds the GRUBBY.AI service mark. We sell a competing humanizer, so read this as a buyer's briefing from a rival, with every quote sourced to Grubby's own pages. The full price ladder is in our Grubby AI review, and a plan-by-plan comparison with a calendar-month humanizer is on our Grubby AI alternative page.

Does Grubby AI give refunds?

Not for ordinary cancellations. Section 8.5 of the terms, headed Refunds, reads:

All purchases are non-refundable except as expressly stated in Sections 8.3 and 8.6.

Section 9.1, the plain-English summary of the billing rules, says the same thing another way: cancelling "stops future charges but does not refund prior billing periods unless required by law." The cancel screen inside the app repeats it one more time before you confirm: "No refunds will be issued for the current billing period."

So if you forgot to cancel and a renewal went through yesterday, the written policy gives you no refund for that period. Section 8.5 does add a line worth using: "If you are unsatisfied with our services, please contact us at help@grubby.ai." That is an invitation to ask, not a promise to pay, but it is the right address if you want to try.

When does Grubby AI owe you a refund?

Only in one situation the terms spell out: a price increase you reject. Section 8.6 says Grubby must email you at least 30 days before any price change, with the new price, the date it takes effect, the reason, and your right to reject it. If you cancel inside that notice period, you keep your current price until the period ends and "will receive a pro-rata refund for any unused portion of your billing period."

That clause is more generous than most humanizers offer, and it is worth knowing because Grubby's prices have moved a lot. An archived copy of the pricing page from April 2025 shows Essential at $6.99 a month. It is $19.99 today, billed every 4 weeks. If you get a price-change email, read it carefully and cancel before the effective date if you do not want the new rate. That is the one reliable route to money back.

What about the Grubby AI Turnitin guarantee?

Grubby's site carries a banner promising a Turnitin guarantee or your money back. The guarantee page explains it in a single sentence:

If our humanized text gets flagged by Turnitin as AI-generated, we'll refund the cost of your subscription.

Section 5 of the terms says any such detection guarantee "is governed by its own separate terms". We looked for those separate terms and could not find them. The page linked in the footer as Refund Policy loads the site footer and no policy text, and the guarantee page sets no deadline, no proof requirement and no claim process beyond asking you to contact the team.

The practical catch is evidence. Most students cannot run Turnitin on their own work. The AI-writing report usually sits in the instructor's account, and many schools never show it to students. A refund that depends on proving a Turnitin flag depends on a document you may never be given. If you do have it, the claim steps are below.

How do I cancel my Grubby AI subscription?

Section 9.4 of the terms names one valid route: log in to your Grubby account and use the cancellation option in your account settings. The steps:

  1. Log in at grubby.ai with the account that pays for the plan.
  2. Open your account settings and find Your Subscription, which shows the current plan, its status and the renewal date.
  3. Click Cancel. The app then walks you through several screens labelled Take a break, Why you're leaving, Options for you and Finalize.
  4. Decline the offers (the button reads "Decline, continue canceling") and pick a reason on the survey screen.
  5. Click Cancel subscription on the final screen. The status should change to Cancelling Soon with an "Access until" date.
  6. Check your inbox. Section 9.9 says Grubby emails a confirmation with the cancellation date, the plan, the date your access ends and your last charge. Keep that email.

The terms are strict about what does not count. Section 9.4 says requests sent "through any other means", including contact forms, social media messages, phone calls and chargebacks, "do not constitute valid cancellation". Section 9.6 adds that cancellation is never implied from not using the service, a failed payment or account inactivity. If you have not finished the dashboard flow, the plan is still live and still renewing.

One warning about searching for help. A result titled "Grubby Help Center" that ranks for cancelling a Grubby subscription belongs to a UK meal-kit company with a similar name. Its instructions are about food deliveries and delivery cut-offs. Ignore it and use the Grubby AI account screen.

What offers does Grubby show when you cancel?

The cancel flow is a retention sequence, and it helps to know what is coming so you can decide in advance. Based on the text of the app's cancel screens, you may be offered:

  • A pause. "Take a break for 30 days. No charges during the pause, and your subscription will automatically resume." Another screen says monthly plans typically pause for 3 cycles. Either way, billing restarts on its own.
  • A discount. A loyalty discount on "your next billing cycle only", or a special offer of 50% off your next month. After that, your usual rate applies.
  • A free billing cycle. If you pick "Too expensive" as your reason, the app may offer to push your next charge back by one full cycle.

The same screens carry a warning that matters: "You will lose all rolled over word credits if you proceed with cancellation." If you have unused words rolled over from earlier cycles, use them before you click the final button, not after.

A pause or a free cycle is a reasonable choice if you know you will be back. If you are leaving because the product did not do what you needed, each of these offers just moves the next charge further out.

When will I be charged again if I do nothing?

Sooner than you might expect. Grubby's pay-as-you-go option is labelled Monthly, but the small print under each price reads "Billed every 4 weeks", and the plan data behind the pricing page uses a 28-day interval. That means 13 charges a year, and your renewal date moves two or three days earlier each calendar month. Essential at $19.99 costs $259.87 over a year on that schedule, not $239.88.

If you are trying to catch the renewal before it happens, check the "Renews on" date in Your Subscription rather than counting from the day you signed up. And if you want to see how many times you have actually been charged, it is quicker to turn a PDF card statement into a spreadsheet and filter for the Grubby line than to scroll through a year of statements by hand.

Should I file a chargeback with my bank?

Only for a genuine billing error, such as a charge after a confirmed cancellation or a charge you never authorized. Section 9.8 says a chargeback is not a cancellation and does not cancel your obligation to pay valid charges. It also says Grubby may send your card issuer account access logs, IP addresses, device identifiers, your acceptance of the terms, your usage history and any cancellation emails. If you used the service during the period you are disputing, that evidence will usually win the dispute for Grubby.

The order that works: cancel through the dashboard first, keep the confirmation email, then write to help@grubby.ai. A dispute with your bank is the last step, not the first.

How do I claim the Grubby AI Turnitin guarantee?

Because the guarantee's own terms are not published, there is no official form. What gives you the strongest position:

  1. Email help@grubby.ai and quote the guarantee sentence word for word.
  2. Attach the Turnitin AI report that shows the flag, with the date and the document it covers.
  3. Include the Grubby output you submitted, so the text can be matched to your account history.
  4. Add a screenshot of the guarantee page, ideally one dated from when you paid. Take one now if you are still subscribed.
  5. Cancel through the dashboard in the same sitting, so the claim is not holding up your cancellation.

A promise printed at the point of sale is your best card if the answer is no. It is worth knowing, though, that no humanizer can see a detector's verdict before your reader runs it, and a guarantee does not change that. It only changes who pays when it goes wrong, and only if the claim is accepted.

What California and New York subscribers should know

Section 9.5 of the terms says dashboard cancellation complies with the California Automatic Renewal Law and New York's automatic renewal rules, and section 9.4 says cancelling is "designed to be at least as easy as signup." If you are in either state and the cancel flow will not let you finish, screenshot each step. A cancellation you tried to complete, and could not, is exactly the situation those laws exist for, and your screenshots are the evidence.

If you are leaving because Grubby did not do the job

The reasons on Grubby's own cancel survey include "Too expensive" and "Quality or AI Score too high". If one of those is why you are here, the thing to compare next is price per word and how much text each run takes, because those are what decide your monthly bill. Grubby Essential caps each paste at 500 words, so a 2,000-word paper is four separate runs. We compared the paid field on exactly those terms in the cheapest AI humanizer, and the wider comparison is in our best AI humanizer roundup.

Ours takes up to 1,500 words in a single run on every plan and renews on the same date each calendar month. Starter is $49 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for 100,000 words. To be straight about our own terms: payments are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise, and we sell no detector guarantee. What we offer instead is a one-time trial of three runs of up to 300 words each, so you can judge the rewrite before you pay. Paste the draft Grubby did not fix into the box at the top of this page, and compare every plan on the pricing page.

If you are weighing other tools with similar refund rules, we read the terms for Undetectable AI refunds and cancellation and BypassGPT refunds and cancellation the same way.

The short version

  • Refunds: none by policy (terms section 8.5). Ask at help@grubby.ai if you are unhappy, but it is discretionary.
  • The one written exception: cancel inside the 30-day notice of a price increase and you get a pro-rata refund.
  • Turnitin guarantee: advertised, but its separate terms are not published. You need the Turnitin report to claim it.
  • Canceling: account settings, Your Subscription, Cancel, then through the offer screens to the final Cancel subscription button.
  • Before you cancel: use any rolled-over word credits, because cancelling forfeits them.
  • Billing: the Monthly option renews every 4 weeks, 13 times a year.
  • Chargebacks: not a cancellation under the terms. Cancel first, email support second, dispute last.
