Phrasly Cancel Subscription and Refund Rules With the 30-Minute Cutoff
Phrasly locks each renewal 30 minutes before it runs, and its refund needs an account with no usage at all, the $2 trial included. The cancel steps and what the terms refund.

To cancel Phrasly, log in, open Settings, go to Billing and press Cancel Subscription, and do it at least 30 minutes before your renewal or trial end, because after that the charge is locked. Phrasly refunds only the first subscription payment on an account, within 14 days, and only if the account has no usage at all, trial included. Renewals, the $2 trial fee and partial periods are never refunded.

We read Phrasly's terms of service on October 13, 2026, one day after Phrasly last updated them, along with the prices we re-read for our Phrasly AI review. This guide is for someone on the $2 trial or a paid plan who wants out, or who has just seen a charge they did not expect. It is written by Undetected.ai, a competing AI humanizer. We cannot cancel or refund anything for you; only Phrasly can.
How do I cancel my Phrasly subscription?
Phrasly's terms (section 7) list three ways. The first is the one that leaves you with proof on screen.
- In your account. Log in at phrasly.ai, open the Settings page, go to the Billing section and press the "Cancel Subscription" button.
- By email. Write to support@phrasly.ai from the address on the account and say you are cancelling. Ask for a written confirmation.
- Through the support widget on the site, which the terms also accept as a cancellation request.
Use the button if you are anywhere near a renewal. An email is only as fast as the person who reads it, and the deadline below is counted in minutes. Whichever route you take, the confirmation comes from Paddle, the company that processes Phrasly's payments, so search your inbox for Paddle rather than Phrasly. Keep that email.
The 30-minute rule that catches people
This is the clause to know before anything else. Section 7 says cancellation requests "must be submitted at least thirty (30) minutes before the user's next scheduled renewal". The reason given is that the payment processor locks each renewal or trial-end charge shortly before it runs, and once a charge is inside that window, the terms say, it "cannot be canceled". A cancellation that arrives late still counts, but for the period after the one you were just billed for.
In practice, cancelling "on the day" is not safe. If your annual plan renews at 2:14 p.m. and you cancel at 2:00 p.m., you have paid $131.88 for another year, and renewals are on the list of charges Phrasly never refunds. Find the renewal time, not just the date, in your Paddle receipt, and cancel the day before.
What happens after I cancel Phrasly?
On a paid plan you keep access until the end of the period you paid for and are not billed again. The terms put it as: cancellation "will take effect at the end of the current paid billing period", and "No refunds or credits will be issued for any partial billing period." So an annual plan cancelled in month two keeps running, already paid for, until month twelve.
On the trial it works differently. Cancelling during the three days ends the trial at once and no subscription is charged. You do not get the $2 back.
How do I cancel the Phrasly $2 trial before it charges me?
Cancel in Settings, Billing, at least 30 minutes before the three days are up. The trial costs what section 6 calls a "non-refundable fee of $2.00 USD (tax inclusive)" and gives up to 50 humanizer uses a day. When it ends without a cancellation, the account is charged the full subscription for the plan and billing cycle you selected at checkout. If the annual tab was selected, that is $131.88 in one charge. If monthly, $19.99.
Three details in that section are easy to miss:
- Phrasly does not send the reminder. The terms say "Phrasly does not independently send billing notifications" and point you to the payment processor's emails. They also say the charge stands whether or not you received a notice. Set your own reminder for day two.
- Upgrading early ends the trial. If you click the upgrade during the three days, the full amount is charged immediately and the $2 is not credited back.
- One trial each. It is limited to one per user, household and payment method, so a second card at the same address does not get another.
Does Phrasly give refunds?
Rarely. Section 29 opens with "All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as stated in this section." The exception is narrow, and all three conditions have to hold: it is the first subscription payment ever made on the account, you ask "within 14 days of the date that payment was charged", and there has been "absolutely no usage on your account whatsoever". Checking a text with Phrasly's AI detector does not count as usage. Humanizing a single paragraph does.
The part that surprises people is how far back "usage" reaches. The section says "Usage is determined by overall account activity, not subscription periods" and "Any usage of our services, at any point, immediately voids refund eligibility." Read literally, anything you humanized during the $2 trial counts against the refund of the payment the trial converted into. The refund is really for someone who paid and never ran a document, on the trial or after it.
| Your situation | Refund under the terms? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| First payment on the account, under 14 days, nothing ever humanized, trial included | Yes | Email support@phrasly.ai now and do not run anything first |
| Trial converted and you humanized text during the trial or after it | No, by the wording of section 29 | Cancel so it does not renew, then ask anyway |
| Annual plan renewed and you forgot | No, renewals are excluded | Cancel, then ask anyway; the terms do not oblige them |
| Cancelled inside the last 30 minutes and were charged | No | The cancellation applies to the next period |
| Want the $2 trial fee back | No | Nothing to claim |
| Resubscribed after an earlier cancellation | No, only the first subscription counts | Cancel before the next renewal |
| Switched from monthly to yearly and regret it | No partial refunds on a cycle switch | Cancel to stop the following year |
| A charge you never authorized | Not a refund case | Contact support, then your card issuer |
The terms add that rights under consumer protection law that cannot be waived are not limited by any of this. If you live somewhere with a statutory cooling-off period for online purchases, say so in your email.
What is the Phrasly money-back guarantee?
Section 34 is a separate promise, and it is a comparison test, not a satisfaction guarantee. Phrasly says it will refund your most recent payment if another publicly available humanizer comes out ahead of it under a fixed procedure. You need the same input text of at least 500 words run through both tools. On Phrasly's side it must be the Ultra model in Balanced, Strong or Max mode with every setting left at default, with all five drafts generated and none edited. Both outputs then have to be scored on four AI detectors the terms name, and the other tool has to score better than every Phrasly draft on at least two of them.
To claim, you email support within 14 days of the payment with the input, the other tool's name, address and output, and screenshots of every score. It is one claim per account, and a successful one cancels the subscription. Phrasly also states that the guarantee is not a promise about how any detector will treat your text. It is a real commitment and more than most rivals put in writing, but collecting the evidence is an afternoon's work. It is not a route for someone who simply changed their mind.
Can I dispute a Phrasly charge with my bank?
You can, and for a charge you did not authorize you should. For a charge you did authorize, write to Phrasly first. Section 16 asks you to contact support before disputing, and it reserves the right to cancel your subscription without a refund if a dispute is filed in bad faith, which the terms define as misleading your bank about what happened. Subscription sellers also tend to run software that answers a dispute with your login and usage records, so "I never used it" does not hold up if the account shows activity. The agreement is governed by Delaware law, and unresolved disputes go to arbitration in Kent County, Delaware.
What to look for in your next humanizer
Most people who cancel Phrasly are not giving up on humanizers. They got caught by the trial conversion, or the 5,000-word cap per request did not suit long documents. Before you pay for a replacement, ask three questions:
- Can you see a real result before any card is charged, or does the test itself start a subscription clock?
- Is the monthly price the price, or is the headline figure an annual charge divided by twelve?
- Does the plan tell you its limits in plain words, per run and per month?
Undetected.ai is a dedicated humanizer. You can run a passage of your own and see our AI-pattern score before and after without entering a card, so there is no trial to remember to cancel. You cancel a paid plan from your account at any time. Be clear on the trade: our payments are non-refundable except where the law requires, which is why that free passage exists. Plans start at $24 a month billed yearly or $49 month to month, for 100,000 words and 1,500 words per run. That is a bigger bill than Phrasly's annual plan, with a published limit for every number. If the price per word matters most to you, the cheapest AI humanizer ranking shows where each tool lands, and the Phrasly alternative page compares the two of us plan by plan.
Leaving a different tool? We wrote the same kind of guide for Undetectable AI refunds and cancellation and QuillBot refunds and cancellation, and we reviewed AI Undetect, whose terms take a different line on yearly plans.
