Scribbr AI humanizer review with the 125-word limit and what Premium costs
Scribbr's free humanizer rewrites 125 words per paste and quietly leaves out the rest. Its "Get premium" button opens QuillBot Premium, at $8.33 to $19.95 a month. We pasted a real passage to see exactly where it stops.

The short answer
The Scribbr AI humanizer at scribbr.com/humanize-ai is free, needs no account and takes 125 words per paste. When we pasted 159 words, it rewrote the first 125, stopped mid-sentence and did not return the last 34 words, with only the counter ("159 / 125 Words") as a warning. The box runs under QuillBot's terms, and both upgrade links go to QuillBot, whose Premium plan costs $19.95 monthly, $39.95 quarterly or $99.95 a year ($8.33 a month). Scribbr says the tool aims at readability, "not evading detection". It suits one paragraph at a time; for whole essays or articles, a humanizer with longer runs saves the chunking.
Read on October 6, 2026 in a desktop browser on scribbr.com and quillbot.com. QuillBot's US prices come from its own pricing FAQ; its premium page showed the same 8.33 monthly figure. Annual totals are our arithmetic.
What we pasted, what came back
The Scribbr humanizer stops at word 125 without an error
A 159-word passage about weekly team updates, pasted once, no account. Struck-through text is what never came back.
Your text
159 / 125 Words
Remote work has changed how small teams plan their week. Instead of long status meetings, many managers now ask for a short written update every Monday. The update lists what shipped, what is blocked and what needs a decision. It takes ten minutes to write and saves an hour of calls. The habit also creates a record, so a new hire can read three months of updates and understand the project in an afternoon. There are downsides. Written updates can hide problems that a live conversation would surface, and some people write far more than anyone reads. The fix is a word limit and a rule that blockers go first. Teams that adopt both tend to keep the habit, while teams that skip them drift back to meetings within a quarter. The point is not the format. The point is that everyone knows, by Monday noon, where the work stands and who needs help to finish it this week.

The way small teams organize their week has been altered by remote work. Many managers now request a brief written update every Monday in place of lengthy status meetings. What shipped, what is blocked, and what requires a decision are all listed in the update. It saves an hour of calls and only takes ten minutes to write. A new hire can read three months' worth of updates and comprehend the project in an afternoon thanks to the habit's creation of a record. There are drawbacks. Some people write far more than anyone reads, and written updates can conceal issues that would come up in a live conversation. A word limit and the rule that blockers go first are the solutions. Teams that implement both typically maintain the habit, whereas those that don't tend to stray.

words silently left out
The cut falls exactly on word 125, in the middle of a sentence. Our input said teams that skip the habit "drift back to meetings within a quarter"; the rewrite ends with "those that don't tend to stray." and nothing after it. The two closing sentences, which carried the point of the paragraph, were not in the output at all. There was no pop-up and no error, just the counter and the "Get premium" link above the result.
The rewrite itself was fine for what it is. Meaning survived, the order of ideas held, and the sentences got passive and slightly formal ("What shipped, what is blocked, and what requires a decision are all listed in the update"). We pressed "Re-humanize" six times and got the identical text back every time, so there is no second opinion to be had from the free box.
The practical rule: if you paste an essay into Scribbr, count the words that come back. Anyone pasting 1,000 words gets 125 rewritten and 875 lost, and it is easy to miss when the output looks complete. If you would rather paste a full section, our essay humanizer takes up to 1,500 words per run.

Scribbr made its name on human proofreading and plagiarism checks, so plenty of students assume its humanizer is a Scribbr product with Scribbr's standards behind it. The page says otherwise in small print. The terms linked under the box are QuillBot's Terms of Service, which open with "Quillbot is owned and operated by Learneo, Inc.", and Scribbr's cookie notice lists Course Hero and a Learneo help desk among its vendors. Whatever you paste is handled under QuillBot's privacy policy, and whatever you buy, you buy from QuillBot.
One detail works in your favor. Scribbr's embedded box allows 125 words with no account, while QuillBot's own free humanizer sits behind a sign-up. QuillBot's plan table has also been moving: in August its US copy read "125 words, 6 uses/day", in September "125 words, limited usage", and the copy served to us on October 6 read "up to 100 words, limited usage". If you only ever need a paragraph, the Scribbr box is the simplest way into the same engine. Our QuillBot humanizer page covers QuillBot's own tiers in detail.

QuillBot Premium is a bundle. Beyond the humanizer with "no word or usage limit", it unlocks the full paraphraser with nine extra modes and custom modes, the plagiarism checker at 25,000 words a month, longer summaries and the ChatGPT and Gemini integrations. At $8.33 a month billed yearly, that is one of the cheapest ways to get unlimited humanizing anywhere, and we would not pretend otherwise.
The price that catches people is the monthly one. Pay $19.95 for twelve months and you spend $239.40, more than twice the annual plan. On refunds, check the page you buy from. The pricing FAQ served to us on October 6 describes a 14-day money-back guarantee for new users who have never had a QuillBot refund and ask within 14 days of the charge; the US copy archived on September 21 showed no such answer, and QuillBot's help center has said refunds are issued only where the law requires. Either way, the annual plan is the biggest amount to get back if Premium is not for you. Our QuillBot refund and cancellation guide walks through the cancel screens before you commit.

Scribbr wins on one thing: a free paragraph with no sign-up. QuillBot Premium wins on price for heavy users, with no stated word or usage limit for $8.33 a month billed yearly, plus a whole writing suite. Our Starter plan costs more, $24 a month billed yearly or $49 monthly for 100,000 words, which is $0.24 to $0.49 per 1,000 words.
What you pay for with us is a narrower job done in more depth. Each run takes up to 1,500 words, so a full essay section goes in at once. After every rewrite you see our AI-pattern score before and after, with the patterns it found named, so you know what changed instead of trusting a button. If that is not what you need, the cheaper answer above is the right one. Higher up, Pro is $99 a month ($49 billed yearly) for 300,000 words and Scale is $199 ($99 yearly) for 1,000,000; see the pricing page.

Questions people ask
Scribbr AI humanizer questions answered from our test
Is Scribbr AI humanizer free?
Yes, the box on scribbr.com is free and worked without an account in our test on October 6, 2026, but only for 125 words at a time. Paste more and the counter turns to "159 / 125 Words", the rewrite stops at word 125, and a "Get premium" link sends you to QuillBot Premium, which costs $8.33 to $19.95 a month.
What is the word limit for Scribbr AI humanizer?
The limit is 125 words per paste. The counter under the box reads "0/125 Words". In our test a 159-word passage came back as a 136-word rewrite of the first 125 words only; the last 34 words, two full sentences, were simply not returned. Split longer text into 125-word chunks or use a tool with a larger per-run limit.
Is Scribbr AI humanizer good?
It is a decent free polisher for a paragraph. The output we got read cleanly and kept the meaning, with fairly mechanical swaps such as "comprehend" for "understand". It has no modes, no history and a hard 125-word ceiling, and Scribbr itself says its focus is readability, "not evading detection". For essays or regular volume you will outgrow it quickly.
Is Scribbr AI humanizer accurate?
On meaning, yes in our test: every fact in the 125 words it processed survived the rewrite. The accuracy problem is what it leaves out. Anything past word 125 is dropped without an error message, so a pasted essay comes back shorter than it went in. Always compare the word count of the output with your input before you copy it.
Is Scribbr AI humanizer the same as QuillBot?
In practice, yes. The line under Scribbr's box says "Quillbot Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply", the linked terms are QuillBot's, and QuillBot is a Learneo, Inc. business. Both upgrade links on the page, "Get premium" and "Advanced Humanize", go to quillbot.com. The difference is that Scribbr's box needs no account, while QuillBot's own free humanizer asks you to sign up.
How much does Scribbr AI humanizer premium cost?
Scribbr does not sell a humanizer plan of its own; its "Get premium" link opens QuillBot Premium. QuillBot charges $19.95 billed monthly, $39.95 billed quarterly or $99.95 billed yearly, which is $8.33 a month. Premium removes the word and usage limits on QuillBot's humanizer and adds its paraphraser, grammar and plagiarism tools.
Does Scribbr AI humanizer remove AI detection?
Scribbr does not claim it does. Its own FAQ says the tool may make detectors "less likely to flag the text" but that its focus is "improving writing quality and readability, not evading detection". No humanizer can promise a result on every detector, so treat any score as one reading and revise the draft yourself where it still sounds generic.
What is the best alternative to Scribbr AI humanizer?
It depends on volume. For occasional polishing across many writing tasks, QuillBot Premium at $8.33 a month billed yearly is cheap and broad. If you mainly rewrite AI drafts of essays or articles, a dedicated humanizer with longer runs is the better fit: our plans take 1,500 words per run and show our AI-pattern score before and after each rewrite.
